The Last Magazine
I couldn't help but laugh at an advertisement telling the reader to find her natural beauty with a new shimmery foundation because since when is foundation the natural look of your skin? The only semi worth reading article discussed how views of thinness can change dramatically by zip codes. The story was narrated by a woman who talked about the severe body issues she experienced after moving to L.A. from the east coast. Of course this article was featured on page 322, which if the reader ever got to she probably was already feeling too insecure about her body from seeing images of one too many size 0 women to even care. So while I think most mainstream fashion magazines are repetitive, boring, unoriginal and just plain cruel I do think that there are some amazing magazines out there worth reading. Hopefully we can all find one that is both fashionably and culturally up to date.
